Cartoon flattens colours and adds dark outlines before matching blocks.

Dithering mixes blocks to suggest in-between shades. The speckled look can be a deliberate pixel-art style; Pattern keeps it regular and easy to build.

About this tool and common questions

Turn a picture into a Minecraft building plan

Choose a picture or draw on a blank canvas. Match it to concrete, wool or terracotta, edit the blocks and build one row at a time. Wall and floor art use one full block per occupied square, up to 256 by 256 squares.

Worked example: a seal and a fish

Seal pixel-art blueprint with an orange fish, 32 columns by 24 rows.
32 × 24 · 340 blocks · 428 empty cells.

Empty squares stay empty; white wool is a placed block.

  1. Choose “Try the seal example” to load this exact drawing.
  2. Choose “Start building” and follow the block codes row by row. The 16 × 16 tile grid has four sections with 114, 99, 58 and 69 blocks, left to right, top to bottom.
  3. Open “Download and take it into the game” for PNG, SVG, CSV or structure files. Download “Project file”, then use “Open project” on another device to continue the drawing and progress.

How do I turn an image into Minecraft pixel art?

Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP image, crop the subject and set its size in blocks. The generator matches image colours to allowed blocks. Compare it with the original and use the brush, fill or selection tools to refine the design.

Does the picture leave my device?

Conversion, editing and the optional depth estimate run in your browser. The depth model (42 MB) downloads from sealmount.com only when you choose “Estimate depth”; your picture still stays on this device. Projects are saved locally, not uploaded to Sealmount. A project file can include the reference picture and its depth only when you choose that option. Share a project file to continue on another device.

Is the 3D preview a complete model from the photo?

No. The 3D preview shows exactly the blocks you will place: a one-block-thick wall or floor, or a relief or sculpture when you choose a 3D shape. That depth is estimated from the picture, so hidden backs and sides are not reconstructed; a sculpture repeats the front's depth behind it. Rotation changes the view, not the build.

How are materials and crafting resources counted?

Every occupied square counts as one block. The resource plan subtracts stock once, combines shared ingredients and rounds up crafting batches. For example, 9 red concrete require two powder batches: 8 sand, 8 gravel and 2 red dye, leaving 7 powder after hardening 9 blocks. Water is reusable.

How do I build a large picture without losing my place?

Start building to divide the picture into 16 by 16 building tiles. Walls start at the bottom; floors start at the north edge. Follow each row's block codes and mark it complete. Progress is saved with this exact picture. Editing a finished segment makes only that segment unfinished again.

Can I edit the picture on a phone?

Yes. Use one finger for the selected drawing tool and two fingers to pan or zoom. Selection actions are available as buttons. The project file transfers the drawing and progress between devices; a normal page link does not contain your picture.
